Ignaas Vermeiren

The passion for music has affected the career of bassist Ignaas Vermeiren from the onset. Ignaas Vermeiren is an avid player of basso continuo and regularly participates as a cellist in oratorios and many Baroque cantatas.

Jumping to tango seems surprising, however Ignaas found many similarities in the two genres. There is obviously the focus and the rhythm, but also the passion that emanates from many baroque arias. Ignaas also wrote many arrangements of the most diverse nature, for example, for the chamber orchestra of Mechelen, the sexteto Tango 02 and the Ensemble BoSalon. The choirs Rondinella and Voices of Knokke-Heist (B) with the Ostinato ensemble presented in 2008 a concert of passion with arrangements of his hand. In 2008 and 2009 the chamber orchestra of Mechelen played a tango concert with the bandoneonists Alfredo Marcucci and Pato Lorente as soloists, again with his arrangements.
