Pato Lorente also works as a free-lancer in several occasional ensembles, with singers from the River Plate area that are touring in Belgium, such as:

While assisting Alfredo Marcucci, Pato Lorente built a lot of experience in directing courses and workshops on tango ensembles and orchestras in Toulouse (F) and Tarbes (F) between 1997 and 2002. He also directs regular tango ensemble classes in Brussels since 2009.

Because of this, he is often asked to conduct a tango music workshop during the Tango Mango weeks in Totnes, Devon (UK) which take place in October, February, May and August. Musicians of all levels and from different European countries are participating.

Since 2009 and unique in Flanders and Brussels and a good deal beyond: individual bandoneon classes for beginners from the age of 10 years (!) and advanced musicians in a regular music school of the Flemish Community! Other instrumentalists are welcome in the group classes for playing in a tango band. Pato Lorente is responsible for these courses along with Chris Carlier.
All students in Brussels are also very welcome to join the big tango orchestra of the school: the "Bruselas Tango Orquesta".

Here also sincere thanks to the Friends of the Academy, the Town of Sint-Agatha-Berchem and the luthier  Harry Geuns who all contributed to make these classes financially and logistically possible.

Since September 2014, another bandoneon class has been started in Ghent upon the initiative of Pato Lorente. This class is now further taught by Simone Van der Weerden.

Since 2009, Pato Lorente provides regular classes in Brussels for playing in tango ensembles in the part-time education system of the Flemish Community. These classes for playing tango music together let the students discover in addition the typical style elements of tango music. These are applied to pieces from the traditional tango repertoire although more modern pieces are also addressed.

Occasionally a guest lecturer from Argentina or Uruguay joins the classes to assist specific instruments.

The interplay tango lessons are open to students in the intermediate level: piano, double bass, cello, viola, violin, flute, clarinet, saxophone, vocals, guitar, accordion or bandoneon.
